A load matching technology app just received $62 million in funding from Bill Gates.

​Seattle based Convoy is innovating the trucking industry through their growing network that connects carriers to shippers through their load matching technology. The app helps carriers match to loads depending on their route preferences and also decreases their empty miles by keeping their truck full. While for shippers they have the advantage of tracking the load in real time. The company has now raised $80.5 million from investors that range from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, Dropbox co-founder Drew Houston and more. Investments from a variety of business leaders demonstrate the importance of the trucking industry and the impact that it has. These investments will allow the app to upgrade in technology in order to expand nationally. The benefit of Convoy is also that it gives freedom to both carriers and shippers about their loads. Trucking in the freight industry is growing meaning that innovative technology allows the industry to adapt to the increasing demands.
