Increasing Freight in the US causes a spurt in LTL

For more than a year trucking companies have been preparing for the growth in Less-Than-Load (LTL) Freight. This can be noted in the increase of construction of facilities that would allow companies to adapt to this on demand market. The building of these facilities would create efficiency for LTL carries in order to meet shipper demands of greater supply-chain speed. One of the examples of this would be the expansion of YRC Freight who informed that eight new distribution centers will be added in order to handle 7,000 shipments a day. Previously the company was being held back because they could not keep up with shippers needs. More space would allow companies to work in a faster pace which is what is in demand. This demonstrates how shippers are concerned with the speed in the supply chains. With the expansion of facilities carriers will now have an advantage to keep up with the velocity of supply chains and the growth of LTL. To read more about the rise of LTL freight loads you can read Joc’s full article.
