The Trucking Industry Keeps  Moving the US Economy forward with $676.2 Billion in Revenue

The American Trucking Association released its most recent report of the American Trucking Trends 2017. This is an annual compilation of data regarding the trucking industry. In this report professionals can find all the information on how the industry is performing in the economy. Included in the data is the fact that in 2016 revenues for the trucking industry were $676.2 Billion. Once again proving that trucking is another benefactor of what keeps the American Economy moving forward.

​Other facts found in the data include:
  • Trucking produced 79.8% of the nation’s freight bill which is $676.2 billion
  • Trucks moved 70.6% of all domestic freight tonnage, 10.42 billion tons of freight
  • Commercial trucks paid $41.3 billion in state and federal highway fees and taxes
  • Trucking is an industry made up of small businesses: 91% of motor carriers operate six or fewer trucks, and 97.3% operate less than 20
  • 7.4 million Americans are employed in trucking industry jobs, including 3.5 million as truck drivers. 6% of those drivers are women
